The LIFE Ascent Success Kit will include a CAMRY Digital Hand Dynamometer. A dynamometer measures your grip strength which is an indicator for your musculoskeletal health.
Why It Matters
Grip strength is a marker of aging. Low grip strength puts you at higher risk for falls, and you might show difficulty walking, standing from a chair or climbing steps. A weak grip is also associated with fractures and lower mineral density.
How to Measure Your Grip Strength
Measure: To measure your grip strength with the CAMRY Digital Hand Dynamometer, adjust the center knob of the device according to the size of your hand.
Start: Press the ON/SET button to turn it on and again to set your age and gender using the arrows. Press the ‘start’ button and wait for a zero reading on the display.
Squeeze: Grab with your dominant hand, and squeeze as hard as you can for as long as you can.
Save: Your grip will be graded as “weak”, “normal”, or “strong” based on your age and gender. To save your result, press the arrow down button or hit ‘start’ to measure again. Use the ON/SET button to toggle between kilograms and pounds.
